Kefi Collective
ABOUT.
What is Kefi?
The term Kefi (or in Greek, κÎφι) roughly translates to the spirit of joy, passion, enthusiasm and high spirits that stems from living. We think it means to discover the joy and beauty of life and to live and think like artists.
What's our mission?
Dedicated to the creation of public art within the Vanderbilt campus, we unite creative individuals within the Vanderbilt community to extend education beyond the classroom into the unexpected interactions of everyday life.

What do we do?
To encourage public art on campus, Kefi executes monthly art initiatives and annual large-scale program.
Monthly events are mostly campus installations, DIY making, art seminars and workshops. Our past events include Rock Painting, Dorm Decoration Making, Fondant Making, Paper Art Making, "Unsent Texts" blackboard installation, Valentine's Day confession board.
Our two signature programs are student art exhibitions and Vanderbilt Art Forum.

Hope you enjoy our Fire Exhibition for this semester! Physical exhibition and more events will be held next semester.
Fire-Exhibition
Through different forms of visual and installation art (drawings, digital arts, photos, poems), the Fire Exhibition aims to give all the students on campus a chance to express their motivations, their opinions on political events and popular trends, their sources of warmth and emotions, and what sparks their inspiration.

My name is Linh Nguyen, a proud and loud feminist. I am currently a sophomore double majoring in Communication Studies and Human & Organizational Development. I use photography as a wonderful way to capture such irreplaceable and precious memories I have had here with my beloved Vanderbilt friends.

I am a graduate student in the Biological Sciences program interested in the intersection between art and science. Artistically, my goal is to remove myself from the end result as much as possible. To this end, I wrote an algorithm that creates abstract art for me by creating a matrix of 10,000+ data points.

I'm a first year student studying secondary education and English. I love bright colors and patterns and this piece reflects that. My piece for the show is called "Little Pieces". I chose an object that truly represented my childhood experience in that specific month, one for each month. I wanted the objects I chose to be mostly commercial items or things anyone could have had but objects that also meant something special to me.

I'm a senior majoring in biology and asian studies. I love drawing and has been drawing anime illustrations for a couple of years.

I'm a senior, a pre-medical student, and a visual artist.

My name is Sophia Yan, a photographer from Shenzhen, China. I specialize in portrait and traveling photography.

I am a junior majoring in Neuroscience. My pictures below showcase the beauty of the world around us. I hope these images can spark interest in preserving what we have before it's too late.

I am a senior from Charleston, South Carolina studying political science and history with a minor in French. I love to write poetry and short stories, and I wanted to submit a few that showcase some of the things that I am passionate about.
